In/Out by NIC AIMVIL and Eipo Puts a Taiwanese Voice at the Centre of German Electropop
A German Producer and a Taiwanese Singer-Songwriter Trace a Crush That Fades Into Distance
Eipo had already released a single called In/Out in September 2024, and it ran to five minutes and 42 seconds. The version NIC AIMVIL built with Eipo came out on 9 January 2026 and runs to four minutes and 38 seconds. It is a tighter, polished electropop single about a crush that is never returned in full.
NIC AIMVIL’s In/Out with Eipo now sits on our electropop playlist, and the coverage is collected on NIC AIMVIL’s artist profile. The single came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. The Wave of German Producers Building Dance-Pop Around a Singer’s Voice
German dance music has a long habit of pairing a producer with someone else’s voice. The producer supplies the beat and the sheen, a singer supplies the song, and the credit line reads feat.
The format took over the charts in the mid-2010s. In 2014, Robin Schulz remixed Prayer in C by the French duo Lilly Wood and the Prick. His version went to number one in France. After that, the deep-house remix became a main route for a singer’s song to reach dance floors far from home.
The sound has moved on since then. Today the same pairing often borrows from melodic EDM and from the synthwave revival. The mixes are cleaner, and the voice sits right at the front.

Where NIC AIMVIL and Eipo Fit in That Wave on the Afterglow Single
NIC AIMVIL is a producer from Dresden, Germany. NIC AIMVIL started out writing compositions, and digital sampling and remixing followed later. The result is a style that mixes house and trance with retro touches from across electronic music.
The catalogue so far has two albums of 11 tracks each. Aufbruch, German for setting off, arrived in 2022, and Am Gipfel, at the summit, followed in May 2025. NIC AIMVIL describes the music as coming from the rural idyll, with a natural feel that meets urban influences.
Eipo is a Taiwanese singer-songwriter with a steady run of singles since 2024. After the first In/Out came Yesterday, Long Way Home and More Than You Want Me, and First Love Song followed in February 2026. So the collaboration joins two catalogues as well as two people.
On the new In/Out, NIC AIMVIL, also known as Yannic Aimé Harsdorf, produced the track and co-wrote the words and music. Eipo sings it. The 2024 single carried Eipo’s name alone, while the cover of the new one reads NIC AIMVIL, Afterglow, feat. Eipo.

The Afterglow Single, and How NIC AIMVIL Frames Eipo on In/Out
Afterglow is a two-track single. The title track opens it at three minutes and 54 seconds, also made with Eipo, and In/Out closes it.
The song follows a feeling from secret infatuation to a hard realisation: the other person does not feel the same way. As a result, it moves between desire and disappointment instead of ending in a dramatic break.
The production stays clean throughout. Electronic textures sit around a voice that stays close and upfront. Meanwhile, the mix balances a retro shine with a modern focus. That is the current form of the wave: the singer is the centre, and the electronics do the framing.
R+, a Mexican music outlet, covered the single in February 2026 in both Spanish and English.
Acts Close to NIC AIMVIL and Eipo, From Zedd to Felix Jaehn
Zedd, a German producer raised in Kaiserslautern, is the clearest model for the pairing. His 2012 single Clarity was built around the voice of the English singer Foxes, whom he chose days before the deadline. It then won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording in 2014.
Felix Jaehn shows the other side of the craft. He remixed Cheerleader by OMI in 2014, keeping the vocal and rebuilding everything around it as deep house. In the Felix Jaehn version, trumpet, conga and piano replaced the original backing. In 2015 that version reached number one in 20 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
NIC AIMVIL works at an independent scale, but the instinct is the same. Start from a voice worth building around, then shape the track to serve it.
ElectroPop.News’s curator team: “In/Out keeps its sheen in the right place. The production frames Eipo’s voice instead of crowding it, and the shorter edit makes the song’s change of heart land faster.”
The single suits listeners of electropop, dream pop and house who want a song at the core of a dance track. It also suits curators across Europe, the Americas and Asia. For them, it is an independent collaboration that crosses continents.
