The Inanna Myth in Five Songs Made on a Phone by Nyna Grace, and How to Hear It

An American Bedroom Pop Artist Made Her First EP Entirely on Her Phone

Inanna by Nyna Grace came out on 10 October 2026. It is her first EP, and she made every part of it on her phone. She is a 25-year-old bedroom pop artist from Washington State, United States. The five songs tell a story from her own life, and an ancient goddess gives that story its frame. Three things give the EP its shape: a concept, lyrics about anxiety and family, and a track order that works like a story. So here is how to hear each one.

Nyna Grace’s anxiety, the song that opens Inanna, is in our playlist below, and her coverage is collected on her artist profile. The EP came to ElectroPop.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news sites. Play it first, then keep reading for how the five songs fit together.

Nyna Grace Built Inanna Around a Goddess Who Came Back From the Underworld

The hook is the title. Inanna was the Mesopotamian goddess of war, love and sex. People first worshipped her in Sumer, and later cultures called her Ishtar. Her planet was Venus. In the best-known story about her, she travels down into the underworld, dies there and returns to life.

Nyna Grace explains the connection on her own website. She identifies with Inanna, who suffered the worst kind of betrayal. The goddess went through death and rebirth, and she still came out strong. Then, she writes, everything fell into place: Inanna’s planet is Venus, and her Greek equivalent is Aphrodite.

So that is where to start listening. The third of the five tracks is venus, so the goddess’s planet sits at the exact centre of the EP. At four minutes and 20 seconds, it is also the longest song on the record. Hear it as the centre the other four tracks circle.

The Words on Inanna Deal With Anxiety, Family and Being Told to Stay Quiet

The lyric layer comes from her own life. On her website, Nyna Grace says the five tracks introduce a simple backstory that many people can identify with. It covers being the black sheep of the family, being the angry daughter, feeling isolated and feeling excluded.

She also explains what she felt was missing. There are not many songs, she writes, about escaping toxicity that does not come from a boyfriend. In her view, few songs cover how anxiety can ruin your life. Few cover how people try to silence you when you express yourself creatively. So Inanna is her answer, and she accepts that the journey it shares is imperfect.

First, the opening track sets out the approach. She describes anxiety as a heartfelt and harmonious ballad about the isolation of anxiety and trauma. It comes from her own experience. She imagined people scream-crying to it in the car on the way home from a rough day. It is a song that says the hard words out loud.

analyze, the fourth track, sits at the other end of the mood. She calls it campy, loud and electric, a song about forging your own path while imitators try to copy yours. She suggests it for a hype or gym playlist. So listen for that swing: the EP moves between private pain and open defiance.

How Five Tracks Made on a Phone Add Up to One Story on Inanna by Nyna Grace

The structure is the third thing to hear. The track list runs anxiety, september virgo, venus, analyze and long gone, just under 18 minutes in all. Two of those songs came out first as singles: analyze on 27 June 2026 and anxiety on 15 August. On the EP, anxiety opens the story and analyze answers it after the centre.

Above all, every part of it came from one device. Nyna Grace says she made Inanna entirely on her phone. There were endless times, she adds, when she wanted to give up. Nyna Grace, credited as Christina Hula, wrote, produced and sang anxiety. She says her whole heart went into it, down to the production.

Making a record this way also has a precedent. Steve Lacy created most of Steve Lacy’s Demo on his iPhone and recorded straight into its built-in microphone. The project came out in February 2017. But the comparison is about method, not sound: it shows how much a single device can carry when the writing comes first.

So listen to Inanna in order, from anxiety to long gone, with venus in the middle. On release day, Nyna Grace wrote on Threads that her first EP was out and that she would tell her story. The five songs are where she tells it.

From the ElectroPop.News curator team: “We placed anxiety fifth in our Dark Pop, Alt-Pop, Coldwave playlist, straight after Austra and Patrick Holland’s Siren Reprise. A song made on a phone holds its place in that run on the strength of its writing.”
