A One-Word Hook, and How to Hear It in HELLO by André

The Colombian-Born, LA-Based Artist Turns a Missing Greeting Into a Latin Disco-Pop Breakup Song

HELLO by André runs on one English word dropped into a Spanish lyric, sung over a Latin disco-pop groove. The Colombian-born, Los Angeles-based artist released it on 23 June 2026. That single word does more work than any other in the song.

André’s music is in the playlist below, alongside this desk’s electropop and dance-pop picks, and earlier pieces live on the André profile. HELLO came to ElectroPop.News through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news titles. Play it first, then read on for how one word carries the chorus.

Hello by André Builds Its Hook From One English Word Inside a Spanish Latin Disco-Pop Lyric

The hook is a greeting. In the chorus, the word hello comes in pairs. Then it stretches into a line that switches language halfway through: hello, oh hey, how you doin’, mi amor. English carries the greeting and Spanish carries the affection, and the switch happens inside one line. It is a simple songwriting decision with a clear effect. As a result, the one word a listener outside Latin America already knows becomes the part everyone can sing.

That choice also sets the ratio for the whole track. The verses keep the story in Spanish, where it was written. Meanwhile, the chorus hands the room a single English word to hold on to. So it is a hook built for a crowded floor, where a shouted greeting works in any language.

A Latin Dance-Pop Breakup Story Where the Missing Hello Changes Hands by the Final Chorus

The verses set a scene. It is past midnight, and the narrator is on a fourth rum. The wait is in the same bar where the goodbye happened. The narrator is sure the other person will come back and apologise. The pre-chorus then counts the cost. First comes all the time spent pretending in front of their friends. Then, at the end of every day, not even a hello in return.

One line gives the song its personality. The narrator forgives but does not forget. Maybe, the lyric says, that is because of being a Virgo with a heart that lives in a mansion. It is a joke and a boast at once. It also tells you the song is not going to end in tears.

Then the bridge flips the hook. The other person is back in bed, drama and all. However, tomorrow morning there will be no look and, of course, no hello. In other words, the word that measured neglect in the first chorus becomes the narrator’s answer in the last one. That reversal is the whole arc of the song, and it takes one word to do it.

Co-Produced With Flo, the Disco-Funk Arrangement Moves From Verse to Bridge in Three Minutes

André co-produced the track with Flo, according to the credits under the lyric video. Flo Mavridorakis, credited as Flozinho, also mixed and mastered it. The arrangement leans on disco and funk, with Latin pop and contemporary dance-pop around it. It belongs to what her own biography calls a bold Latin queer dance-pop project. At 3:16, it moves quickly. First come the verse and the pre-chorus. Then comes a chorus built on the repeated hello, and finally the bridge that turns it around. To hear the hook at work, listen for the second chorus and then the last one. The word stays the same, but by the end it means the opposite.

From a Choir in Manizales to Berklee and a New Dance-Pop Era

The craft has a long history behind it. André began singing at three in a choir in her hometown of Manizales, Colombia. Her father conducted it and her mother sang soprano, as she told The Cage in 2025. Later, she recorded her first record at 12 and played in a pop-rock band. She then graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 2022. Her 2024 EP, Si Hay Un Mañana, was acoustic Latin pop, with every song written and arranged by her.

HELLO belongs to the new era: louder and built for the dance floor. Even before its release, it was a finalist at the 2024 International Songwriting Competition. It also won the Latin category of the 2024 Unsigned Only Music Competition.

Where to Hear Hello by André and Follow the Colombian-Born Artist Across Every Platform

Listeners who found their way back to disco through Dua Lipa will hear the connection first. Her 2020 album Future Nostalgia built a pop record around disco and dance-pop. It also won Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys, and HELLO works the same seam with Latin rhythm underneath. Karol G, a fellow Colombian, is the other reference. Her Mañana Será Bonito became the first all-Spanish-language album by a woman to top the Billboard 200. That shows how far a Spanish-language pop record can travel.

It suits listeners who like a breakup song with a smile in it, and fans of Spanish-language pop. It also suits anyone building a dance-floor playlist that needs a hook they can shout without knowing the verses.

From the Curator Team: “HELLO makes one word do the work of a whole chorus. The repeated greeting gives the song its hook. Then the bridge takes the same word back, which is a neat piece of songwriting inside a track built for dancing.”

Stream HELLO on Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal, and watch the lyric video above.
