Dobi Dobi: Alterkix Puts a Robot Voice on Analog Synths, and How to Hear It

A Belgian Bass Player Turned Analog Synth Artist Packs a Robotic Hook Into 108 Seconds

A Korg Monologue started all of this. Sabine Vermeylen, a Belgian bass player in a covers band, bought one to play the synth bass line of Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). Four years and around thirty releases later, her one-woman project Alterkix is back with Dobi Dobi, a 108-second electronic single built on analog synths and a robotic vocal hook. It came out on 21 August 2026.

Alterkix’s Dobi Dobi now sits in the playlist below, and the rest of the coverage is collected on the Alterkix profile. The single came to this desk through PopHits.Co Music Charts, which verifies independent artists and places their releases across its network of music news desks. Press play, then keep reading.

A Wave of Home-Studio Synth Makers Who Keep Their Music Made by Hand

The single belongs to a wave that is easy to spot once you look for it. These are home-studio makers who play every part on hardware. They release through a distributor every few weeks, and they grow by remixing each other. Alterkix is a clean example. Her website states that her music is 100% human, made before AI music arrived and kept that way on purpose.

She also keeps a second outlet for harder material. Her techno side project, Teknokix, has put out four singles of its own in 2026. Meanwhile, Alterkix stays the home for her electronic storytelling, and Dobi Dobi is its lightest moment so far.

From a Korg Monologue to a Moog Mother-32, Where Alterkix and Dobi Dobi Fit

The Monologue taught her the basics. She read its manual three times before she trusted it. Its small oscilloscope screen draws the waveform as you play, so a square wave really does look square, and that is how the manual finally clicked. Next came a Korg Volca Beats for drums and a loop station. She posted those early loops on Instagram, and the replies encouraged her to add a Volca Bass. Later, a Moog Mother-32 semi-modular opened up deeper patching. From there, she started exploring Eurorack.

The workflow still starts with play rather than theory. Sabine works the machines until something sets a mood, usually melancholic or a little dark. Only then does she build a track. Interestingly, she does not play bass on Alterkix records at all. Every part is a synth, which keeps the project strictly electronic.

A Release Every Few Weeks, Built on Collaboration

The release rate is the other half of the story. Since From Darkness to Light in July 2022, she has put out three albums, ALTERKIX, NIGHT VIBES and DESTINY UNKNOWN, plus a long run of singles. In 2026 alone, Electro Highway arrived in February, Sunny in May and Chasing Clouds in June. So Dobi Dobi in August keeps the rhythm, and a pair of OM BooyakaMix remixes followed in October.

Collaboration drives a lot of it. Silvr Sage, RA Major, NeuPat, Geert Bekaert, Quick on the Drawing, OM BooyakaMix and Delysid Dharma have all shared releases with her. In a 2023 interview with Sergio Bersanetti, she explained that a Silvr Sage remix lifted radio plays on both their Spotify profiles by between 100 and 300 percent. For an artist with no label behind her, that network is the promotion plan.

Telex, Kraftwerk’s Robots and the Belgian Habit of Letting Machines Sing on Dobi Dobi

Dobi Dobi is the playful side of Alterkix. Its hook is a robotic voice riding on analog synth parts. The video leans in, too, with a cast of vintage robots. That puts the single in a long line of synth acts that let the machine do the singing.

The closest neighbour is Belgian. Telex formed in Brussels in 1978 and made deadpan synth-pop with a sense of humour, from Moskow Diskow in 1979 to their 1980 Eurovision entry, Euro-Vision. Like Telex, Alterkix treats electronics as something to enjoy rather than something to admire from a distance.

The other reference point is Kraftwerk. Their The Robots (1978) put a vocoder voice at the centre of the song and turned the machine into the singer. Dobi Dobi borrows that idea at pocket size. The robotic hook carries the tune, while the analog synth parts underneath keep it warm.

From the ElectroPop.News Curator Team: “Alterkix usually writes in darker moods, so hearing her hand the microphone to a robot and grin is the surprise of her 2026 run. It gets in and out fast, and it makes the moodier records around it land harder.”

How to Hear Dobi Dobi by Alterkix, From the Robot Video to Every Streaming Service

Start with the video, because the vintage robots set the tone. Then play it on headphones and listen for how the robot voice sits on top of the analog parts. After that, go back through NIGHT VIBES or DESTINY UNKNOWN for the moodier side of the project. Dobi Dobi suits listeners who want electronic music made by hand and who like a joke with their synths.
