Shygirl Will Bring a Full Band to the Royal Albert Hall
Swallow! was built in electronic sessions. Karma Kid made everything maximal, and Casey MQ fine-tuned the quiet, delicate parts. In 2027, Shygirl will play that record with a full band behind her.
The tour, announced alongside the new single “Mantra”, is her first headline run with a full band. It opens in Berlin on 13 March and reaches London’s Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 18 May, the last headline date currently listed. Swallow!, her second album, is out on 6 November through Because Music.
How Mantra Is Put Together
“Mantra” is the third single from the album, after “Alyse” and “Lucky (Hymn)”. Its press release describes it as hypnotic and propulsive, a track that pulls the listener deeper into the dancefloor. Clash hears Shygirl lost in a dancefloor reverie, with swirling electronics working as a balm for worried minds.
The single was featured on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music show, Dancewax reports. Shygirl joined Lowe to talk through the making of Swallow!, and performed “Mantra” and “Lucky” in a live-to-air session, BroadwayWorld adds.
The live session and the tour point the same way: an album made in unhurried studio sessions, now being rebuilt for performance.
The Video and the Shygirl Cinematic Universe
Each single from Swallow! comes with a chapter of a running story. The “Mantra” video is set before the action of “Alyse” and “Lucky (Hymn)”. It follows Saskia, last seen dancing in the “Alyse” video, as two other characters, Alyse and Vega, pull her into an impromptu daytime rave.
Because Music says the video is about the moment a crowd gets uncomfortable, and the reward waiting on the other side for anyone who pushes through it. Clash reads it as a tribute to the security of community.
The earlier chapters set the tone. “Lucky (Hymn)” came with a video co-directed by Shygirl and Austen Taylor Pease, staged to look like one unbroken take, and Neon Music notes that it placed her character inside a kitchen hostage scene. With the tour now announced, Neon Music points out, the campaign’s focus shifts from the videos to how the record will be staged.
What Swallow! Is Made Of
Shygirl calls the album a reintroduction. Her label describes indie songwriting woven through the electronica she came from, and a record organised around forward motion. She began writing it after her debut, Nymph, while falling in love, and the sessions were sporadic and unhurried.
The production split is clear. Karma Kid, her longtime collaborator, made everything maximal; Casey MQ shaped the delicate moments. The press notes say she realised she did not need to leave her electronic roots behind. “Alyse”, the first single, was written and produced by Shygirl with Karma Kid and JD Reid.
Glitterbeam lists 11 tracks, opening with “Alyse” and “Lucky (Hymn)” and including “Luvli”, “Submit”, “Sublime”, “Eternal”, “Déjà Vu”, “Mantra” and “Altar”. The physical editions include standard vinyl and CD alongside limited vinyl variants; UK retailer Record Plant lists standard black vinyl, CD and a limited transparent yellow vinyl edition. It is her first full studio album since Nymph in 2022, which was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize the following year. Glitterbeam reads the new campaign as an evolution of her sound rather than a departure from it, from an artist with a clearer mainstream profile than she had when Nymph arrived.
An Album Written in the Language of Devotion
The tracklist reads like a hymn sheet. “Mantra”, “Altar”, “Eternal”, “Sublime” and “Lucky (Hymn)” all borrow the vocabulary of worship, and the press notes lean into it, describing a record about the near-religious pull of falling in love.
The label calls Swallow! devotional and visceral, patient and euphoric, with instrumentation that winds through it as a way of carrying the intensity of that period. Shygirl has said the album came from a time when she felt loved and content, and that it deals with loving and being loved, and the complicated feelings that sit between the two, Glitterbeam reports. Pitchfork, as cited there, reads “Lucky (Hymn)” as a song about coming into your own.

The North American run is the longest stretch, with 12 dates between 5 April and 5 May. Dallas, Houston and Austin fall on three consecutive nights, and Boston, Brooklyn and Philadelphia close the leg the same way.
After London, she is booked for Primavera Sound in Barcelona in June. For the Royal Albert Hall, artist and O2 presales open at 10am BST on Wednesday 21 October, with Parallel Lines and Spotify presales at 10am on Thursday 22 October. General sale starts at 10am on Friday 23 October, and Ticketmaster lists a limit of six tickets per person and household for that show.
Before the Band Arrives
The rest of 2026 is festivals and club nights. Shygirl first played new music from Swallow! at Draaimolen in the Netherlands on 4 September. She plays Club to Club in Turin on 29 October, Iceland Airwaves in Reykjavik on 4 November and MIRA Festival in Barcelona on 6 November, the day the album comes out. That puts her on stage in Barcelona on release day, seven months before she returns to the city for Primavera Sound.
On 4 December she brings a live audio-visual show to III Points at Art Basel in Miami, followed by a Club Shy afterparty at The Ground. Club Shy is the club-focused side of her output: the projects Club Shy in 2024 and Club Shy Room 2 in 2025 kept it running between albums.
From Club Shy to a Concert Hall
The route to the Royal Albert Hall runs through pop’s bigger stages. Shygirl has worked with Charli xcx, PinkPantheress and Saweetie, and joined Charli xcx and Troye Sivan on their Sweat tour. Her label, Because Music, founded in Paris in 2004 by Emmanuel de Buretel and now working from Paris, London and Los Angeles, was named Best Independent Label at the 2026 AIM Awards.
The full band is the newest piece. A record whose producers divided the work between maximal and delicate now needs players who can do both in a Victorian concert hall.
ElectroPop.News’s curator team:
Moving an electronic record onto a stage with live players is where electronic pop either opens up or flattens out. Our tip: learn the album versions of “Mantra” and “Alyse” now, then listen at the shows for which parts the band takes over. That is the clearest way to hear what a full band adds to these songs.
