Rebecca Black Named Her Third Album Age of the Exhibitionist

The third Rebecca Black album is called Age of the Exhibitionist, it is self-released, and it arrives on 4 September 2026. Nightfeelings, Oscar Scheller and Marcus Andersson produced it across 2024 and 2025.

Three singles trailed it through the summer: Speakerphone on 12 June, Hot Wet Delirious on 10 July and Michael. on 7 August. The title is doing obvious work for an artist who became internationally known at thirteen without any say in how, and who has spent the last four years deciding what to do about it.

Written Off a Stadium Support Slot

Two of the tracks have a documented origin. Metamorphia and Hot Wet Delirious were completed weeks after she finished opening shows on Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour, and another, Miss Delicious, was written shortly after Sugar Water Cyanide from the previous album.

Coming off arena support and immediately writing is a specific working pattern. An opening set in a stadium is roughly half an hour in front of people who did not buy tickets for you, which is the least forgiving performance environment in pop, and it tends to clarify what an artist actually wants to do.

Twenty-One Minutes

Salvation, in February 2025, ran twenty minutes and fifty-eight seconds across seven tracks. It was self-released, delayed by a month because of the California wildfires, and Black described the postponement as a very obvious decision, spending the time helping friends who had been affected.

She has described the record as a world of experimentation that she wanted to feel succinct and cohesive. Seven songs is succinct by any measure. Salvation, Trust!, Sugar Water Cyanide, American Doll, Tears in My Pocket, Do You Even Think About Me? and Twist the Knife make up the entire album, and eight producers worked on it.

Of the title track she has said that making a song about celebrating your own queerness in a religious context felt like taking back power. Of Trust! she said it felt right to open the project with the loudest and brashest thing she had put out.

A Genuinely Split Reception

Metacritic settled at 52, which is unusual and worth stating plainly rather than smoothing over. DIY gave four and a half stars. The Needle Drop gave seven out of ten. The Line of Best Fit gave five, Beats Per Minute forty-six per cent, and Paste gave two out of ten.

A spread that wide is not a verdict on quality so much as a disagreement about what the record is. Twenty-one minutes of loud, processed, deliberately abrasive pop divides listeners along the same line hyperpop has divided them since it appeared, and Black’s history guarantees that some of the reviewing was never going to be about the music.

What She Said About Being Looked At

Her comment on American Doll is the most quotable thing she has said about the whole situation: you might feel like you are at your most competent and in a beautiful moment, and people will still find ways to pick it apart.

That is an accurate description of what happened to her in 2011 and a reasonable summary of what a career in public looks like afterwards. It also explains the title of the new album, which takes the position that being looked at is the condition rather than the complaint.

What the New Singles Suggest

The three tracks released so far give a reasonable sense of the record’s shape. Hot Wet Delirious sits second on the album at three minutes eight, Michael. eighth at three thirty-two, and Speakerphone twelfth at two forty-one, which means the singles are spread deliberately across the running order rather than front-loaded.

The titles also mark a change of register. Salvation used the vocabulary of religion and violence: Twist the Knife, Sugar Water Cyanide, American Doll. The new ones are blunter and funnier, and one of them is simply a man’s name with a full stop after it, which is a joke about how much weight a title is expected to carry.

Oscar Scheller’s presence is the clearest line of continuity, since he also produced on the 2023 debut. Three albums in, the production team has narrowed from eight credited producers on Salvation to three, which usually indicates an artist who now knows what she wants before she gets into the room.

The First Real Album Took Twelve Years

Let Her Burn came out on 9 February 2023 through RB Records and Warner, ten tracks in half an hour, produced with Stint, Micah Jasper, Gian Stone, Kevin Hissink and Oscar Scheller among others. Crumbs, Look at You and Sick to My Stomach preceded it.

Metacritic came out at 68. NME and DIY both gave four stars, with DIY calling it a compelling pop cocktail soundtracking her self-discovery, and Billboard placed it among the fifty best albums of that year so far, describing it as smart, detailed and timely without being trendy. Pitchfork gave 4.4.

The gap matters. Twelve years passed between the video everyone saw and the first album she made on her own terms, which is a very long time to spend as a punchline before being allowed to release a record.

Three Albums in Four Years

Having waited that long, she has moved quickly: 2023, 2025 and now 2026, the last two self-released. Dropping the major-label arrangement after the debut and putting out the next two herself is the structural decision underneath everything else.

Self-releasing a hyperpop record is more viable than self-releasing most things, because the audience is online and the production costs are contained. It also removes anybody who might have opinions about whether a song should be called Hot Wet Delirious.

The cadence itself is a statement. An artist who spent twelve years unable to release an album and then puts out three in four is making up for the delay in the most direct way available, and the shortening running times, thirty minutes, then twenty-one, suggest someone who has stopped treating each record as though it has to justify the wait.

It is also worth noting what she has not done. There has been no reissue, no anniversary edition, no knowing re-recording of the song everybody knows. The catalogue she is building simply starts in 2023 and does not acknowledge the alternative, which is a more effective response than addressing it would have been.

Where the Tour Goes

Exhibitionism on Tour was announced on 19 July 2026 and includes All Things Go, the first weekend of Austin City Limits, the For You Festival in Irvine and Canadian dates. Those are large, mainstream, mostly pop-facing bookings.

Playing festivals of that size with material this abrasive is the same bet Hannah Diamond’s generation of PC Music artists made, which is that the audience for processed, maximal pop is now simply the audience for pop. Black arrives at it from the strangest possible direction, and that turns out not to matter.

Whether Age of the Exhibitionist resolves the argument that Salvation started is the question the reviews will decide next week. What is already clear is that the terms have changed: nobody writing about it will be assessing whether she has earned the right to make records, which was still the subtext three years ago. They will be assessing the record.
